1. Site Measuring

Accurate measurements are critical. Incorrect measurements can result in cabinets not fitting.

✔ Always measure in millimetres (mm)

✔ Measure everything twice before submitting

Step 1 – Measure the Walls

Measure the width and height of each wall where cabinets will be installed.

Take three measurements for each wall:

Top

Middle

Bottom

Walls are rarely perfectly straight, so use the shortest measurement.

Step 2 – Measure Windows and Doors

For every window or door in the kitchen area:

Measure the width and height of the opening.

Record distances from:

Floor

Ceiling

Nearest wall edges

Note the frame thickness.

Record the opening direction and how far the door or window opens.

These measurements ensure cabinets and appliances do not interfere with openings.

Step 3 – Record Power, Gas and Water Locations

Decide whether services will stay in place or be moved.

Measure and record the height and distance from the nearest wall corner for:

Power outlets

Light switches

Water pipes and drains

Gas connections

⚠ Any relocation of services must be completed by a qualified professional.

Step 4 – Measure Appliances

Measure the width, height, and depth of all appliances including:

Oven

Cooktop

Fridge

Dishwasher

Rangehood

Also note:

Whether the appliance is existing or new

Any existing ducting locations

Record the height and distance from the nearest wall corner on your sketch.

Step 5 – Draw a Simple Plan

Create a simple sketch of your kitchen showing:

Wall lengths

Window and door positions

Plumbing and electrical locations

Appliance positions

Label all measurements clearly in millimetres (mm).
