Who are we

PlyLab has its roots in Europe, starting 18 years ago by an Irishman. With a name change to PlyLab in 2020, our multidisciplinary team has Kiwi, American, Palestinian and Spanish in its DNA. We love our work and so do our customers. Based in Petone, a 15-minute drive from Wellington, we work with local suppliers using only the best European furniture grade plywoods, laminates and hardware.

How we work

We are passionate about creating sustainable solutions that last a lifetime, crafting each piece with meticulous attention to detail. PlyLab designs and creates a range of furniture, from storage solutions, tables, tallboys, entertainment units and TV cabinets, to vanities and bookcases, over the years we’ve done it all.

Every project starts with a consultation – online or in-person – after which our designers create a plan drawing which you will receive along with your quote. If needed we deliver and install as well. We can deliver nationwide. Email your requirements, including measurements and/or architect’s plans if available to hello@plylab.co.nz and we’ll get in touch with you to discuss your project.

Customer service

For every project, you will work with a dedicated designer to develop a bespoke design that works for you. From a standalone bedside table to all the furniture for an entire home, no project as too big or too small.

Manufacture & delivery

Once the design of your project has been approved, our skilled team of joiners will complete the manufacture of all cabinetry according to the agreed design specifications. Once the customer has inspected the finished product it will be packaged ready for delivery.

If PlyLab looks after the installation, we will not leave until you’re happy with every last detail.

Once the customer has inspected the finished product it will be packaged ready for delivery.

Durability

Plywood is a sustainable and durable product, ideally suited to high usage and wet area’s such as kitchens and laundries. Even in the rare event of a leak - for example in a sink cabinet - plywood has proven to be much more resistant to water ingress than any MDF based material.

Why ply?

Plywood is resistant to moisture and if used correctly will last a lifetime. Our plywood can be sourced with FSC certification, can be recycled and does not end up in landfill. Plywood can span large spaces and/or offer higher weight bearing capacity due to its superior strength and performance. Whether you prefer natural or laminated, plywood has become a mainstay for many interior design solutions.
