Apprentice furniture designer
At PlyLab, we design and build high-end plywood kitchens and furniture — crafted with precision, care, and purpose. We’re looking for an Apprentice Furniture Designer who wants to learn modern cabinetry design and be part of shaping new product development inside a fast-growing plywood brand.
You’ll work alongside experienced designers and makers — learning how to turn ideas into highly buildable, efficient, beautiful plywood products. You’ll help develop furniture systems, improve repeatability, and assist in building design libraries that scale.
What you’ll do
Assist with concept sketches, product development, and new design ideas
Support development of detailed CAD drawings, parametric models, and cutting files
Take part in building PlyLab’s furniture design systems + IMOS library
Research materials, hardware, design trends, and engineering solutions
Prepare design packs, plans, and manufacturing documentation
Work closely with CNC + production teams to ensure designs are optimised for flow, accuracy, and minimal wasted time
What we’re looking for
Strong interest in furniture design + plywood construction
Spatial thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving mindset
Basic CAD / 3D experience (SketchUp, Fusion, or IMOS is a plus)
Passion for learning modern manufacturing + product systems
Respect for detail, accuracy, and high-quality work
Our culture
